Fishing Trips

August 2nd, 2015 – Grand Lake White Bass Family Fun

My lovely wife and kids booked a morning trip on Grand Lake for white bass and swimming fun, lol! Both were successful and lots of family fun. We may have to make an evening trip also smile emoticon

We caught white bass in 12-21ft of water on Bendable Minnows and Ole Ugly slabs with flies tied above them.  Even found a few under a bridge in the shade.

Lots of spoonbill paddlefish were doing their summertime cannonballs.  The kids sure do think their fun to watch making big splashes.  It gets me excited for snagging spoonbill paddlefish.  I’m ready for December-May and drags to be screaming!!!!

August 1st, 2015 – Grand Lake Catching Catfish…Blue, Channels, and Flathead

Today, first time guests, Colton Tisdale and his father joined me for a catfish trip on Grand Lake. We started out shallow on anchor and put a couple solid blue catfish in the boat the first minute out there. Then the gar moved in and the bite stopped. We tried dragging a ledge close by and couldn’t get away from the bait stealing gar. Made a run to a flat and got a couple of smaller blues. We decided to make a long run to a different area of the lake. Put the top up and went to dragging. The bite became consistent at the 12-24 depth. They caught the catfish trifecta, blue, channel and a nice flathead. It was a really fun morning on the boat with these two. Cleaned a cooler full for a family dinner.

White Bass and Hybrid Striper Skiatook Lake 7/28/14

Fred Emmer and his wife brought another couple out for a double date on Skiatook Lake chasing hybrid-striper and white bass. It was an odd evening, not because Fred was on the boat, but the fish would not hit live or cut bait. Once we brought the slabs out to play we started putting fish in the boat. Fred’s wife put a clinic on in the front of the boat catching white bass and a couple solid hybrid striper. Lots of laughs and a great time with this crew. I didn’t get any good pics tonight. Cleaned a mess of White Bass and Hybrids.

July 8th, 2015 – Keystone Striper and White Bass at Night

We did our first summer night fishing trip using green lights at Keystone Lake in Oklahoma fishing for striper and white bass.  We didn’t ever get into a fast and furious feeding frenzy bite, but did have a great time and got a mess of fish.  We tried fishing a cove with lots of bait, under a bridge, and a bluff with current flowing by.  The lake is dropping fast creating a fast lake current.  We caught fish in the current and nothing in the cove.  Fish were caught on Ole Ugly slabs, shad raps, and live gizzard shad.

Keystone Lake Fishing for Stripers 7/3/15

Afternoon-evening trip on Keystone Lake in Oklahoma fishing for hard fighting stripers up to ten pounds. We caught fish on lively fresh caught large gizzard shad and Ole’ Ugly slabs in 12-36ft of water. I cleaned 20 stripers and we let several white bass live another day.  A couple of channel catfish were also spared.  Sure was a great group of guys!  See you next time James

June 28th, 2015 – Grand Lake White Bass (Sand Bass)

Grand Lake White Bass

A wonderful morning to be on Grand Lake  white bass fishing with great customers.  The fish were running a 12-20ft ridge.  We caught fish slabbing Ole Ugly for a couple of hours then they stopped hitting a vertical action.  We switched to the Hell-Pet rig and finished out their limits.  The action is good right now and should continue for several more weeks

June 27th, 2015 – Fishing for White Bass (Sand Bass) at Grand Lake

I had the pleasure of fishing with Larry and Iris Beckett on Grand Lake for White Bass (Sand Bass).  It sure was a beautiful evening and the catching was good too!  We found the white bass on a ridge running bait in 14-16ft of water.  They bit slabs really well for a couple hours and then we switched over to dragging the Hell-Pet for a change of pace.

June 24th and 25th, 2015 – Skiatook Lake Hybrid-Stripers

The past two days have been extremely tough fishing for hybrid-striper on Skiatook Lake in Oklahoma.  It was like a light switch was turned off and the bite died.  We tried freelines, downlines, cut shad, lively fresh shad, big bait, small bait, artificials, deep water, shallow water and everywhere in between.  Summertime is tough on Skiatook and we are evidently at that point.  Caught a couple of nice fish each day and eating size catfish.  Time to move on to catching striper at Keystone and white bass at Grand.  It sure has been a good Spring and early-Summer Mr. Skiatook.  See you again in the fall.  Actually, the evening bite will pick up soon and we may give night fishing under green lights a try.
