Hybrid Striper Skiatook Lake in Oklahoma
Another nice cool May day catching hard fighting hybrid striper on Skiatook Lake in Oklahoma! It seems that when kids or females are on the boat they catch the most and biggest. Today Bethany proved that true again! They kept their limits for a cabin vacation dinner tonight.
I must confess. I got lucky today regarding bait. I caught a good amount of bait the night before and left too many shad in my tank. Half of them were dying on my way home from catching. I quickly got those put on ice and did a quick water change to revive the survivors. The entire way to the lake I was nervous about having enough good quality bait. Now to the lucky part, the hybrid striper wanted cut bait today and not live shad. It was game on using cut bait. I’ve never had a trip that I was nervous about bait and I don’t plan on that feeling again!
All fish were caught using downlines and freelines. We had several channel cat bite the freelines also.
